An Analysis of the Supervision Styles of Supervisors in Social Welfare Centers according to the Enneagram Personality Types

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the supervision styles of supervisors in social welfare centersaccording to the enneagram personality types and to explore the characteristics of thesupervisors. Data was collected from 28 supervisors of social welfare centers. In-depth interviewswere performed by using semi-structured questionnaires, the enneagram personality tests weretaken, and the contents of recorded data were analyzed through transcription. In this analysis,the styles of the supervisors according to the enneagram personality types were clarified on thebasis of their common features as follows.Firstly, the supportive style or heart center stresses the relationship between supervisor andsupervisee; it includes the helper-, facilitator-, and reflector-styles. Secondly, the supervisorsexhibiting the education style or head center teach and guide their supervisees; the analyst-,guidance-, and energizer-styles would be included in this category. Thirdly, the administeringstyle or body center stresses the plan, practice, and harmony of organization management; itincludes the directive person-, mediator-, and planner-styles. Based on the results of this study,suggested implications were discussed.
