The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of acculturative stress on therelation between perceived social support for married immigrant women and their maritalsatisfaction.The participants of this study were 170 married immigrant women who are living in Daejeonand Chungnam provinces. A structural equation model analysis was conducted. The findings ofthis study can be summarized as follows.Firstly, the mediation model established that acculturative stress as a mediating variable in therelation between the social support for and the marital satisfaction of married immigrant womenwas appropriate. It was found that social support positively affected marital satisfaction.Secondly, social support was found to have a negative effect on acculturative stress. Lastly, theresult of verifying the mediation effect of acculturative stress showed that acculturative stresswas a partial mediator between social support and marital satisfaction. Based on the results, theauthors suggested practical implications and intervention strategies that could improve the qualityof life and marital satisfaction of married immigrant women.
