The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of ego-resilience on the relationbetween family relationships and suicide for alcoholics. To fulfill the aim, questionnaires wereconducted on alcoholics in hospitals and clinics specializing in alcohol addiction located in sevenmetropolitan cities for three months beginning in September 2013. The results of the research are asfollows. First, the results revealed that the path from family relationships to suicide was fullymediated by ego-resilience. The relationship between family relationships and ego-resilience waspositive)(B=.260, p<.001). Meanwhile, the relationship between ego-resilience and suicide wasnegative(B=-.351, p<.01). Second, the result of verifying the mediation effect of ego-resilienceshowed that ego-resilience was a full mediator between family relationships and suicide foralcoholics(Z=-.091, t(CR)=-2.063(p<.05)). Based on these results, practical implications werediscussed for suicide prevention for alcoholics.
