The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of parenting behaviors on adolescents’ lifesatisfaction and to explore the mediating effects of ego-identity and school adjustment on the aboverelations. The subjects were third-year middle school students and the data was from the third yeardata of The 2010 Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (2010KCYPS). Structural equationalmodels were conducted with Amos 21.0. The major findings are as follows: 1) parenting behaviorhad negative impacts on adolescents' life satisfaction; 2) ego-identity, but not school adjustment,mediated between parenting behavior and adolescents’ life satisfaction; and 3) there were significantdifferences between boys and girls regarding the relation between parenting behavior andadolescents’ life satisfaction. The findings of this study suggest that interventions dealing withego-identity are important for improving adolescents’ life satisfaction and gender should beconsidered to understand their life satisfaction.
