The purpose of this study was to show that parents can provide career guidance coaching fortheir children at home in conjunction with the primary education curriculum. The need for andimportance of children to receive career guidance has been emphasized more and more, and careerguidance has already been implemented in children's education programs. According to this purpose,an exploratory study was conducted with the development of a parent coaching program forchildren's career guidance, and the components of the program were reviewed, reconfigured andverified. In developing the program, the requirements survey was conducted for 70 parents who hada child attended at elementary school on September 2013, and the result of this survey was reflectedin the program. The program was conducted with 8 sessions for 16 mothers who had a student oflower-grade of the elementary school located at Suwon city, Gyeonggi-do, and the effect of thisprogram was analyzed qualitatively.
This program supports the parents’ role of searching for, developing, and managing theirchildren's career as a coach in their children's developmental stage. Thus, this program is expectedto have a positive effect, from children's career recognition to their selection of their own career.
